National Pharmacists Convention (NPC) is an annual convention organised by Malaysian Pharmacists Society, that gathers all the pharmacists from various sectors throughout the nation for a productive exchange of knowledge and experience. This is an important event that aimed to further empower and promote the growth of the pharmacy profession, vital in the ever-changing healthcare landscape in the nation.

NPC also provides a platform for scientific poster presentations. The purpose is to encourage the dissemination of a high-level summary of their research findings and discoveries to the community.

The National Pharmacists Convention (NPC) is a major platform for pharmacists to get the latest updates in the profession while connecting with their peers to enhance their personal and professional growth.

Continuous Education: During the Conventions, there are many types of sessions – plenary, breakout room, workshop, seminar, and forum. Each session type is designed to provide participants with the latest development in pharmaceuticals, pharmacotherapy, pharmacy practice, guidelines, regulations, and best practices. Attending the NPC may earn as much as 20 CPD points.

Networking and Collaboration: The Convention brings together diverse groups of practitioners – Pharmacy Services Programme (PSP), National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency, Government Hospitals, Private Hospitals, Community Pharmacies, Industry, Academia, and the Military – which provides excellent networking and future collaboration opportunities.

Exposure to New Products and Services: One of the Convention’s highlights is the booth exhibitions where the partners will showcase their latest and new products, services, and technologies. This provides an excellent opportunity for pharmacists to engage and stay updated with current knowledge.

Camaraderie and Inspiration: The Convention offer an environment where pharmacists can connect with like-minded professionals who share their passion for the pharmacy profession. MPS has 17 chapters, and delegates can engage in discussions with people who share the same interest and become advocates for the area of practice.

The theme for this year’s NPC is “Pharmacists in the Evolving Integrated Healthcare Landscape: Navigating Change and Driving Quality in Primary Care.” The primary goal is to accentuate the role of pharmacists as primary care providers in integrated healthcare systems, which involve the collaboration of multidisciplinary teams working across settings and levels of care to provide coordinated and seamless patient-centred care.

The NPC Organising Committee is recruited yearly. For 2024, the Chairperson is Dr. Nour Hanah Othman from the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Kuala Lumpur (UniKL). Should you wish to contact her, kindly email us at npc@mps.org.my, and the NPC Administrator will channel it to her for further action.

E-certificates will be issued to all delegates attending the convention (all 3 days) after the Convention. Attendance tracking will be done daily. More information will be provided through the registration system. Delegates may be required to complete a simple task, such as a post-convention survey form, before downloading his/her certificate.

The CPD Points for those who attended all 3 days is 20 points.

CPD points will only be awarded to those who attend the whole Convention. MPS will not award partial CPD points.
